The Clarity Session · Couples Therapy in Temecula, CA
One of You Wants to Work on It. The Other Has One Foot Out the Door.
When you are not even sure you both want to stay, regular couples therapy was not built for this moment. The Clarity Session is. One focused 2.5 hour session to help you both reach a clear, confident decision about which direction is right.
When You Are Not on the Same Page
You Do Not Both Want the Same Thing. And Pretending Has Not Helped.
Most couples come to therapy ready to work, even when they are hurting. But sometimes one person is not sure they want to stay at all. They are exhausted. They have one foot out. They agreed to come, but mostly to say they tried.
Push a couple like this into standard weekly therapy and it usually backfires. The leaning-out partner feels cornered. The leaning-in partner feels rejected again. Nothing moves. This is called a mixed agenda, and it needs a different kind of help.
"I am not ready to give up. I think we still have something worth saving, and I need to know I tried everything before I let go."
"I am not sure I have anything left. I do not want to waste months in therapy if my mind is mostly made up. I need clarity, not pressure."
The Only Real Goal
Three Paths. One Clear Decision.
The Clarity Session does not try to talk you into staying or leaving. Its only job is to help you choose one of three paths with confidence, instead of staying stuck in the limbo that is quietly wearing you both down.
Stay as You Are
Keep the relationship in its current form for now, as a real choice made on purpose, not by default.
Move Toward Separation
Decide that ending the relationship is the honest, healthiest path, handled with care and as little extra damage as possible.
Commit to the Work
Both partners agree to a focused, all-in effort in couples therapy, with leaving off the table for a set window of time.
Where It Fits
Not Weekly Therapy. Not an Intensive. Its Own Thing.
Weekly therapy assumes you are both in. My intensives are for couples ready to dig deep and rebuild. The Clarity Session sits before either of those, for the in-between place where you do not yet know which direction is right.
The goal is not to save the marriage. The goal is not to end it. The goal is to help you both reach clarity and confidence about a direction, so the decision you make is one you can stand behind later.
Format and Investment
One Focused Session. 2.5 Hours.
The session is built around a shuttle structure, because honest clarity needs real one-on-one time with each of you, not just conversation as a pair. Available in person in Temecula, CA, or by telehealth throughout California.
Together
We start with both of you, to understand what brought you here and how each of you sees it.
One on one
I meet with one partner alone. This is where the honest, unguarded version of the story comes out.
One on one
Then the same uninterrupted time with the other partner, so both of you are fully understood.
Back together
We reconvene, name what we found, and you leave with a clear direction and your next step.
For the full 2.5 hour session. Your fee is reserved with payment via Zelle at the time of booking.
A marriage-defining decision sometimes needs a night to settle. A single follow-up session is available if you want it, never required.
Is This the Right Fit
Who the Clarity Session Is For
A good fit when
- One of you is leaning out and unsure whether to keep trying.
- You are considering divorce but are not certain.
- You feel stuck in limbo and the not-knowing is its own kind of pain.
- You want a decision you can live with, not one made in a fight.
Not the right fit when
- You have both already firmly decided to divorce.
- You are both committed and ready for couples therapy.
- There is abuse or you are afraid of your partner. That needs different support first.
- One partner is using it only to delay or control the other.
If you are afraid of your partner, or if there is abuse in your relationship, clarity work is not the right starting place, and your safety comes first. You can reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or text START to 88788, available 24/7. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
"After every session we have felt so refreshed and powered to conquer obstacles with a much clearer direction and understanding for one another."Google Review
Staying stuck feels safer than deciding. It is not. Limbo is its own slow kind of damage, and you do not have to live there.

Honest Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Clarity Session different from couples therapy?
Couples therapy assumes you both want to repair the relationship. The Clarity Session is for when you do not both feel that way yet. It is a single focused session with one goal: helping you reach a clear, confident decision about which direction to take.
Is this one of your intensives?
No. My intensives are for couples who are ready to dig in and rebuild. The Clarity Session comes before that, for couples who are not yet sure they want to. It is its own short, standalone offering.
How long is it and what does it cost?
It is one 2.5 hour session for $950, reserved with payment via Zelle at booking. An optional single follow-up is available if you want time to let the decision settle, but it is never required.
What if my partner has already decided to leave?
If you are both firmly decided, this is not the right fit, and I will tell you that honestly. But often the leaning-out partner is less certain than they sound. This session gives that uncertainty room to be looked at instead of acted on in a moment of pain.
Will you try to talk us into staying together?
No. The goal is not to save your marriage or end it. The goal is to help you both see your situation clearly enough to choose a path you can stand behind. A decision made in clarity holds up far better than one made in a fight.
Do you offer this in person and online?
Yes. The Clarity Session is available in person at my office in Temecula, CA, and by telehealth throughout all of California.
